78 KZ1000 Rear Pad Spring

I realized I am missing one of the rear brake pad springs that is #11 on this diagram, do i need these I have 1 and a few local fellas say I can do without, considering I can't seem to find one anywhere but Australia and I think $50 US is a bit hefty.
