It’s not to long. The seat stay and washers take up the room. As far as the other you can have a piece welded on. I suggest cutting the broken one back so the welded butt joint is under the shock eye. Then you can cut the piece to length and thread.

I was thinking along those lines, great idea to weld it under the shock, l'll leave a little extra existing stud to support the weight. Any chance u have a pick of the seat stay and washers in action. Thanks in advance !

You could also just cut the threaded piece off the other side and drill and tap whats left and fit button head bolts, I'm doing that on my build, That is of course if you don't mind it not being stock...
