Hello Fellas!

So my 78 KZ1000 LTD is at the machine shop as we speak, the length will be extended 6 inches, my builder told me to get a chain 10 inches longer than stock. Any suggestions on brands and what length am I looking for, I will be able to use stock sprockets ect so I just need 10 inches over stock length. Please help I really don't want to call builder on vacation with what may be a simple question. Thanks Guys

I guess I do not understand the issue.  If the length of the swingarm is increased by 6 inches wouldn’t the chain need to be 12 inches longer?  Ed

I believe the '78 KZ1000 LTD came with 15 and 33 tooth sprockets, and a 92 link 630 chain.  Using this calculator:

www.blocklayer.com/chain-sprocket.aspx

It says the stock sprocket center-center distance is 25.41"

It also says that a chain with 108 links has a center distance of 31.43", which is +6" longer than stock.

And as Ed suggested, adding 16 more links is exactly 12" more chain.
