Hello,
I'm looking to get new tires for the 81 gpz 550. Currently running a front 90/90-19 and rear 110/90-18 avon road riders. I can't really attest to how good they are, they are hard and dry rotted.
I want to run 100/90-19 front 120/90-18 rear.
Currently im looking at the Avon roadrider MKII's as they seem to be the best option at the moment for the size. I'm looking for the best possible grip and mileage 2nd priority. Thinking about doing the am18 but that might be overkill.
My other option is the Pirelli Sport Demon. Im not sure on the manufacture dates on either of these tires.
Any suggestions for good tires in these sizes for cornering grip (not necessarily a track tire, but good road performance tire)?

I have been running Pirelli Sport Demon tires on my 1977 KZ650-C1 since 2009. I'm on my third set. I use 100/90-19 on the front and 120/90-18 on the rear. They work great! Ed

I'd do the Roadrider MKII's. They stick great, ride great, and last much longer than Sport Demon's. They are typically cheaper too.

+1 on the Avon roadriders, great tires, good grip and mileage , I know a few people using them {including myself} and have never heard a complaint...

I'll second the Pirelli Sport Demons, best tires I've had on my bike yet! That said, when I was looking for tires it was a tough choice between those and the Avons. You shouldn't be disappointed either way.

Both tires are great options for grip and millage always depends on how hard you ride them. The only concern I have about the Avon is they might crack when you store your bike in cold environment, which is my case. I should try to find out if they fix that.
