Front bevel gears help was created by Meucas
Hey everyone! I've owned my '84 Kz550 F2 for five months, and two of those my engine has been off because the bearing blew out on the front bevel gearset on my first ride. The gearset has been in the shop for two months now and they're seemingly dragging their feet about getting it fixed, waiting on the engine case gasket and bearings (I've already bought the gasket, and ordered OEM bearings yesterday.) They're unable to start any work on it too because they don't have any way of disassembling it.
I'm looking for a tool or part number, or someone to point me towards an improvised method of getting the bolts holding the gears in the case out.
I've considered that I could just install the bevel gears back onto my engine, putting the engine in gear, and using a big impact drill to loosen the troublesome bolts off, but I've been told that that's a bad idea.
Anyone have any pointers?

G'day, any chance you can post photos of the gears in question as I'm not really sure what it is that you are trying to achieve.
If not, can you provide links to the parts you have ordered.
This will make it easier for members to help with your problem.
Cheers.

Do you have the factory service manual for your bike? No doubt Kawasaki developed special service tools for servicing the drive shaft front bevel gears. Maybe you can copy the tool design and make a home brew tool based on the factory design?

All I have is the Clymer manual, and it doesn't go into that kind of detail. Just how often to change the oil in the rear gears driving the wheel since that's a different oil reserve.

Fortunately the mechanic that my parents go to is confident that he can get the work done on it. I showed the part to him and he said he has a fancy gear puller that'll probably do the job.
