I'm just a "hack" of course but I will say that I love my Caswell zinc kit. Can't tell you how many times I've worked on a carb restoration project or just some random part in need of freshening and having the plating kit ready to go is a godsend. I can understand now wanting to do a full bikes worth of hardware, although I've done it a number of times before, but I consider it an invaluable tool to have in the shop when the need arises.

After seeing all that shiny vintage hardware Nessism, I was spurred to action to apply your methods of preparing parts for plating.
My 550 D1 was crying for a rear wheel hardware refresh.
Though I used Oxallic acid (the same active ingredient in (EvapoRust) the resulting surfaces cry for fresh zinc!

The six P's principle apply, no doubt:.
Proper Preparation Prevents Paltry Poor Performance!
I had a collegue drop the parts off at my local plater last Thursday and I received them back yesterday.
I am very satisfied, to say the least!
Thanks for revealing your method Nessism.

I’m going to try this place the next time. He said $160 for up to anything that would fit in a 3 gallon bucket. He can do black, blue, and yellow chromate also.
