Pulsing coil cover / pickups cover sizes
21 May 2020 09:19
Hi
Anyone know whether Kawasaki used a standard size of pulsing coil cover / pickups cover on their bikes? I'm looking for the cheapest intact one I can find that will fit a Z550. It would be great to know whether e.g. FX400R or GPX600 or whatever covers would fit.
Thanks

Did you try CMSNL.com? I would compare their info with the info at Partzilla, especially the gaskets. I would think the GT550 gasket would be the same as the 550s sold here in the USA, and if that's the same, then you can use the x-ref to see what else might work. keep in mind that some pulsing coil covers might be deeper than others.

The covers that fit are from inline-four cylinder Kz 400, 500, 550, 650, 700 and 750. And probably most air-cooled motors that are based on those Kz's.
The gaskets should be basically the same.
As Martin mentioned, The only thing to watch for is that the points-ignition models have a slightly shallower cover. When used on electronic ignition models, the cover sometimes will interfere with the internal parts. So you will want to stick with electronic ignition models to be safe. It's a shame because I think some of the points covers look the best.

Of course! The gaskets! Doh, silly me. Never thought of that. Problem solved. Thanks
