undefined Hi all, I'm a new Member to the site, thank s for having me here. I am not new to bikes, years ago owned a 96' KX125, but as for street owned a 2004 Gixxer 750. Sold that bike before my 1st born arrived. I really miss riding. Fast forward 9yrs, my neighbor in his mid sixties asked me to help him out with moving some stuff in his garage. As the good man I am I helped him out. In his garage, under a cloth sheet was black 1983 GPZ550. I was shocked. Got into good conversation about riding etc. Anyway, 1 Johnnie Walk Blue Bottle in his favor, now the bike is mine....SCORE!

I want to swap out both the front triple tree to modern USD , and rear swingarm. Then turn this sweet Kawa into a head Turner.

Can anyone assist with some suggestions of which front end ZX6, Gixxer, Yammie R6, or any of them in 750 or 1000 and the year (Full swap including clip-on, wheels, rotors). Also the entire rear swingarm and set up...

I'd like to use all ZX6 or ZX7 parts instead of Suzuki or Yammie. Just dont like mix manufactures on a build.

Attached are pics of my GPZ550. Thanks in advance for any assistance from you guys.

Riturbo..... thanks. I didnt even look at the title or vin# yet, LOL. I'm going off what my neighbor told me.
Besides being 1 year newer, are any any mechanical or engine advantages on the '84???
I see the speedo/tac and gas gauges are different.

Thanks

I'm always surprised when a seller or buyer is confused about the model year of a bike. If nothing else wouldn't the bike's model year be shown on the title? Ed

The 1984 carbs are TK27 and are similar to the 1983 Tk26 carbs but there are differences.
This page is for the Tk26 carbs but has some Tk27 info.

You will want to read the valve-train warning in my signature before removing the valve cover.

Old bikes are often bought and sold without titles. When I bought my XS650 the ad was for a 1978 but the GDOT registered it according to the VIN as a 1979.

Its a great bike .I have both .Just wanted you to know so when it comes time to order parts you get the right stuff . Think the 84 is more comfortable to ride and handles a little better . I personally like the looks of the 83 better but that's just me .
