KZ750CSR seat fitment on KZ650SR? was created by 2WheelJunky
Hey all, so I’m looking to replace the seat cover/ foam on my 79 KZ650SR, but on the local classifieds I found someone selling a good condition 82 KZ750CSR stepped seat and was wondering if it would fit on my bike? I’m lazy and if it fits I’d rather just swap them than reupholster.

If not, does someone know a good place to buy seat covers online? Or a good place to get a seat done in northern Utah area?

The 750-CSR seat probably won't fit the 650-SR, not direct bolt-on anyway. B&H Specialties is one place that sells seat covers, but I don't know if they recover them. SargentCycle in Florida recovers seats. I guess both places are still around. Sargent has a good how-to showing what they do.

Or search EB for KZ650 SR seat cover. I got a nos Travelcade/SaddleSkins seat off of EB for my CSR & it was virtually identical to the stock seat cover, except it wasn't glossy like the stock seat. The material was stretchy which aided the installation. I'd never done a seat before, so it was kind of a pain, but not impossible or anything. The instructions said to use 3M Super77 spray adhesive, so that's what I used.

Darn I figured that would be the case... I have searched eBay but sometimes searching is difficult and most of the results come up for the B and C models of the 650. Are the seat pans the same between say a B model and the D2 that I have?

I found this website called Texavina and apparently they make any seat off a stock seat pan, pricy but looks like many Triumph riders recommend them highly.

I think I may try a Trotzen seat cover, apparently they are based out of AZ and make seat covers to go over oem foam. It’s also half the price of the Texavina seat. Is $90 USD reasonable for just a cover? I guess it has pleating and is stepped slightly like I want....maybe I just answered my own question haha. They also apparently make plain ones for half that.

Also on a side note, that’s a cool sissy bar/rack you have there martin_csr!

From the cross-reference at Partzilla the SR seat is the same as the KZ650E Ltd. As for a 650B or C, one difference is that they are shaped to fit around a rear tail cover or ducktail which the SR doesn't have. Whether or not they fit the same otherwise, I don't know. but even so, then there'd be the opening at the rear.

On EB search for KZ650 SR seat cover. or try KZ650SR, KZ650D or KZ650 D. and try seat instead of seat cover.

That's a K&G luggage rack & sissy bar in the pic above. You can find the racks all over EB in varying condition & listed in all sorts of ways. often times according to whatever motorcycle they were on. Honda. GoldWing. Suzuki. CB750. XS650. GS850. KZ1000. etc etc etc.
The forward shock mount arms & mounting hardware can vary.
