Help identifying KZ900? Frame was created by Mikaw
I’m starting this post to avoid high jacking an existing post.

I acquired a frame in a parts lot purchase and need some help figuring out what I have

It appears to be the correct range for a 1977 KZ900 A5. The confusing part is a rear MC mount for disc brake. Could replacement frames be ordered with the serial number of the original frame they were replacing? Also it doesn’t look like a mount the was used on either the rear 1976 900 LTD disc or the mount on the 1978 1000 LTD.

Here is the mount and location of the 1976 KZ900 LTD
One helpful member suggest it was a 8 98 date he was seeing on the worn off tag. Would the replacement frame be issued with the existing serial number but reflect the date it was issued?

It´s difficult to see but if i zoom into your picture i can read 8 / 76 as date of manufacturing.
Maybe a pic from a diffrent angle let us see the punch marks of the numbers.

The number relates to a 900A5 but the frame looks like a 77/8 b2 ltd frame, so possibly a crossover model.

My understanding is that replacement frames had no serial number from the factory. They were stamped by the distributer/dealer.

Does the sticker number match the stamped number on the neck?

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Yes the stamp on the frame matches the sticker

Did the swingarm come with the frame? If so, does it have a date code?

There were 2 swingarms in the deal but they were both disc set ups but assume 1978 or newer as the have needle bearing

This is a known 1977 LTD, mount is completely different

And another angle on the A5 frame. Looks to nice to not be a factory weld

Have I stumped the staff?

If it wasn't for the serial number I would be thinking maybe it's not a Z1 frame. I can only assume someone added a disc brake at some point.
