Cheap Fairing was created by daveo
Found this fairing on Craigslist last year. I cleaned it up a bit, and was pleasantly surprised how easily it fit on the bike and what it does for the ride..
Compared to going without, this fair thing helps stabilize the ride on the highway. The bike handles head and cross winds better, and feels like it holds upright easier.

May not look great, but it does keep the bug splatter off the gauges. :cheer:

Can't speak for anyone else, but I like that fairing you found. I saw a picture of a similar one on a '77 KZ-1000 from Australia but the owner didn't know who made it. Do you have any idea of the brand name of yours?

It looks like an Emgo Viper fairing.

I had a Suzuki quarter faring and I loved it. It had a spoiler on the bottom and I was convinced it helped keep the front tire on the road at speed. I could tuck in at over a ton but that's when my bike was in stock form. Unfortunately it shattered in the wreck and cut the hell out of me. It was made of fiberglass and turned into a million pieces. I swore I wouldn't have another one after that. Not saying the one I have now will be any better but my riding style has changed and the chances are the Lexon won't disintegrate like the last one.
Can't seem to find the one I had but it was close to this.

I believe it's an Emgo Wasp:

The original fasteners had been replaced with mismatched junk by a PO, so it now has strong and shiny ones.

Did you only use the little brackets in the pic?

ABS should hold up better than fiberglass in an accident.

Yes.

The two steel brackets are sandwiched between new nuts and large fender washers on extended hex-bolts inserted from inside the headlight bucket.

For additional support the fairing fits snug against the headlight trim ring and meter covers with a couple rubber spacers. Some trim and filing was needed to achieve a decent and adequately secure fit.

I for me would stay on the faring, it would be looking great if painted and paint stip in your bike colour. It has a Little bit of a bad boy character you are looking for.

Nailed square and dead-on flush.
