Hi
Does anyone know whether the 440 LTD tank will fit a 550 LTD? Or whether any other tank would fit a 550 LTD? I am able to weld tabs to the fixing nodules at the front of the tank, and fabricate an adaptor to the rear mounting hole if necessary. However, the overall length of the tank could be an issue, if I have to move the seat too far back. Also, the shape and width up front (in case the forks bump into it under full lock).
The reason I ask is, my project bike uses a 550 LTD (chain) frame as its base. I live in the UK and these bikes weren't common over here. The sellers I usually use for my parts have gotten wind of the fact that I need the occasional 550 LTD part, and have adjusted their prices accordingly. I don't feel like playing ball and coughing up, as the tanks they've got for the 550 LTD are basically scrap, needing substantial restoration. So I would rather fit a tank from a different bike in good condition.
Thanks

Awesome find, cheers. Didn't know about that site. I've bunged him an email in my lousy German.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationFrom EB.UK. KZ550 Ltd C fuel tank. Has Make Offer button.
I didn't see any serious damage & the underside looks good.

Thanks Martin. I ran out of the allowed number of offers Ebay lets you make on that one some time ago. I trust it isn't leaking, but the inside of the tank will need treatment and coating, it will need a new fuel cap and fuel tap. None of these things are a problem, but I reckon the stated price doesn't reflect the overall condition. I base this on similar or better examples being available from the USA, with fuel caps, amounting to roughly the same in price even taking into account the very expensive cost of postage from the USA. I will need a tank and I'm hoping the German guy gets in touch with me, because his one is perfect. If I have to pay that sort of money, I should really be looking at importing one from America, as time isn't pressing.
