Curious? Has anyone ever tried and succeeded recoating the levers? I've searched for a clear shrink-wrap with a closed end to do this to no avail. Reference example 43029-003 Brake Lever.

That second link. one gallon to do a brake lever. LOL. I see that it has UV protection, but still funny. I also was thinking Plasti-Dip.

I have tried with spray on plastic but it was too thin. I put on multiple layers but it still wasn't thick enough. The photo below shows the first layer...I masked the ends with masking tape to create the same line that exists on the originals. If you zoom in on the second photo you can see the line after multiple layers.

I am thinking about trying POR 15 Clear but haven't done one yet.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

I suspected the spray might be too thin. Yes, the gallon is pretty pricey, but if it worked, the op might be willing to do others, or he might not are about the cost. Sometimes, replicating a factory oddity can be really expensive.

Forgive my ignorance but why coat the levers? The coating Kawasaki put on them always seemed to peel off so what's the point?

From what I remember it was very hard to take off. You can see on my other Z1B that the brake control still has it after 44 years. For me it's an indication that the bike is still very much original, or at least someone knows about it and has replaced it with an original.
