79 KZ750 Fork Piston Spring Guide was created by ccammo
Hey Everyone,
Just wondering if you really need the Fork Piston Spring Guide or not when reassembling the front fork?
Does the Cylinder and Piston unit travel down the inner tube until it can't travel any father and you pull it through the bottom? Or, does it get placed on the end with the spring guide?
Thanks,
Chris

If Kawasaki put it in there they had a good reason. Otherwise it would have saved them money to leave it out. Ed

These are damping rod forks, there is no cylinder. The spring guide acts as a seat for the spring and centers it over the damping rod. The example at the link below does not have a spring guide, but if it did, it would sit on top of the damping rod, and provide a firm, centered seat for the bottom of the primary spring. Yes, it is needed in your forks because the top of the damping rod is not designed to act as a seat for the spring.
