I've owned a few Kaws but this is my first KZ. 81 LTD 1000 . What is the bracket for that comes out on the left side of the frame. Just above the foot peg and just below the frame cover?

Pics would be good but is it a tube ?
If so some later bikes had that to accept a factory cable type lock for the rear wheel.
Also a notorious water trap that rots the lower frame rail and eventually allows the side stand mount to fail and the bike to fall over if left open to the elements.
At the very least it should have a bung to prevent that if the lock is not present.

As mentioned by zed1015, there should be a plug or cap. But water probably still gets in even if it is plugged.

Ya know I wonder if it was some sort of importation rule. My 81 Yamahas each have a compartment for a chain and lock.
