Will a 1996 police bike seat fit on a 1982 KZ1000 LTD frame ?
It sure looks like it should fit to me.
But if someone knows for sure I would really appreciate the info.
I can't seem to find the original type of seat.

I would compare the seats & frames using the diagrams & EB pics.
From Partzilla the 1000K & 1000P seats have some of the same hardware. hinges. dampers. etc.

Yeah the frames look very similar looking at the diagrams. Still no way to measure and be completely sure.
From what I've seen the police bike seats from 82 to 96 will fit the police frame.
There are differences in the kz1000k and kz1000p frames obviously.
Just wondering if someone knows if the seats would cross over.

I saw one Police seat on eebbaay, so you can compare it to yours. Also, compare frame pics if possible.
I compared an 1100 Spectre seat to the police seat & the orientation of the hinges to the seat lock are different.
You should compare your hardware stuff & the rubber dampers in the same manner.

Hello martin_csr. Yes I saw the police seats on ebay. I guess I wasn't clear on my original post. I have the ltd frame.
I have the ltd frame and would like to know if anyone has tried the police seat on one.

You were clear >> police seat on 82 1000-Ltd frame. I just forgot you didn't have a seat & didn't see an Ltd seat on EB, so I tried comparing a Spectre seat instead. You can probably figure out if a police seat will work by comparing the underside to an Ltd seat if you can find one. I didn't compare frames.

Yes LTD seats are very hard to find. Even one to just compare.
I think I will ask the seller of one of the police seats to make some measurement for me.

I have a couple of LTD seat pans I can get measurements from if you want .
1982 KZ1000 LTD parts donor
1981 KZ1000 LTD awaiting resurrection
2000 ZRX1100 not ridden enough

Hi TexasKZ. Can you tell if the police seat latch is in the same place as the ltd seat ? I'm pretty sure the hinges are the same.

I do not have a police seat to compare with. I will try to dig an LTD seat out this evening and see what I can measure.
