Hardtail back to shock conversion ext Swingarm.?
27 Aug 2019 15:19 - 28 Aug 2019 04:24
Any experience with converting these hard tail strut extended swing arm bikes to shocks? 27" from swingarm pivot shaft to rear axle. What length shock?

A stock 13.5 should do it.

Bike sits so low it can only turn left, right turns grind the pipe. So the rear has to come up, but then the front fork tubes have to be replaced to equalize the height ? This style is great if you want to go straight fast or turn left. Seems fairly useless for street riding.

You can move the shock mounts to raise the back end and I suspect they cut or put shorter springs in the front end. Is the frame raked? Pics of the steering head would help.

28 Aug 2019 03:53 - 28 Aug 2019 05:43That's because it has been set up mainly for sprinting and not street riding.1981kz750ltd wrote: Bike sits so low it can only turn left, right turns grind the pipe. If you want it streetable then you at least need to fit some rear shocks and change the pipe for something that doesn't ground on the right turns.
For proper street riding change the long swinger ( if it really is much longer than std) and the short forks to some stock ones ..
You will easily sell the parts you have to someone who's building a period vintage drag bike, maybe even straight trade for the bits you need.

3rd one of this style bike I've picked up. They seem to end up in the "Parked In The Corner Of the Garage Not Being Ridden" category.
I'm leaning towards pulling the engine and selling the rest as a complete roller. Not sure what to ask but it seems to have some cool bits on it. 2012 tires but there still soft, like the bike was stored inside.. Is $1500.00 as a roller asking price fair? Has a title.
These are Ninja wheels and brakes?

The reason they end up in the corner not ridden, is because they suck to ride. All that neato stuff makes it a pig to ride. No disrespect intended here, but you will be hard pressed to sell a roller jap bike without an engine for $1500.00 IMHO. I see harley chopper rollers for that price all the time. I did however notice that kidkawie is looking for a 2" over swing arm for a Z1. Perhaps work a trade and turn this into a street-able, running sled ?
