Why do you ask & what's engraved at the bottom? Could be Emgo shocks. some Emgos have a top shroud like that & the springs are coiled the same w wide spacing at the upper portion of the spring & tight spacing at the lower end. You could check the number in the Emgo catalogs.

Like Martin said. I think several companies are putting their name on those same shocks. They come in different finishes. I bought some on eBay dirt cheap. They were way too stiff for a 550 so I gave them away. They might be ok on a 1000.

Mine were MDI Forza or Forsa.

I can't make out a name in the stamped letters or numbers. Did a search on the EG 5028 and didn't find anything. They came on the kz1000p and was wondering if a better shock would be worth getting. I'm guessing from loudfvx comment that they are cheap shocks. I'm heavier, about 240. Had to increase the preload to max. The wiring to the taillight needs redone. I messed up the stop light wire hitting a bump the 2nd day riding. It's working for now but needs redone. I just temporarily patched it.
The ride is harsh, but my other motorcycles are a klr650 and a road king with much more rear suspension travel. Sorry if I'm not making much sense. Feeling yucky today and my head is a little more scattered than usual.

Thanks. They are fairly stiff. Im wondering what shocks to get. Guessing the bottoming part of the rear suspension is supposed to be in the rear shock and not the tire hitting the rear fender. I'll do a search on here for recommend shocks.

Hagon, Ikon (Koni), Progressive, and another, the name of which escapes me at the moment, are, I think, the most popular choices. Ohlins if you want the best and are willing to pay quite a bit.

Some folks have reported good results using the KYB shocks from a ZRX 1100/1200. Even used, these can be expensive, and may after so many years need rebuilding, which can be more than $400.
