Can't get chainguard to fit

I've got a KZ900 A4 and can't get the chain guard to fit. The bike had an extended swing arm that I brought back to stock. Everything seems right, wheel centered chain looks parallel to horizontal axis but there just isn't room between the rear sprocket and the shock to fit this thing without it rubbing.
