Kz750n spectre replace air shocks was created by Emc8783
I'm new to motorcycles and thought a kz750 spectre shaft driven would be a good starter bike. My air shocks are leaking and couldn't find a good thread on replacement spring shocks for this model in particular. Could someone send me a link to front and rear setups to replace the stock air shocks thanks a ton.

I think the front fork isn't really an air shock. It just is adjustable by adding or decreasing the air pressure in the shock. Mine (83 KZ1100) have been deflated since I got it.

Does that only affect ride height and not the stiffness?

Sonic springs for the front are good. .9kg rate is about right.

For shocks I'd get Progressives. Selection guide on their website.

Unfortunately kz750 spectre seems like the only bike not on progressives list. Is there a similar bike I can use instead for reference. Would shaft driven make a difference on Shock clearance? Would those first springs just slip in the forks and replace the need for air then? Thanks for your help I pretty new to bikes mostly have car experience.

Yes, the springs eliminate the need for air. I've got them in my 750 and they are excellent.
Bummer about the shocks. You might want to measure the needed length and then go from there with your search.

Front forks. The manual should have the fork spring free length measurement, so use that number to look for new fork springs.
Progressive springs usually require an added spacer to make them fit properly. usually home made.
The springs are probably about 25mm in diameter & some guys make a spacer from 3/4" pvc pipe or fittings which are about 25mm OD.
If you don't have the manual, remove the fork springs & measure them. Then get springs for a 750-4 model with about the same length.
There is a 750-4 chain drive pdf which should have various fork spring numbers.
Rear shocks. with the motorcycle on the center stand, measure the eye-to-eye distance between the shock mounts. When getting new shocks, make sure they aren't too fat at the bottom, otherwise they might rub against the chain guard or otherwise not fit right. Harley Sportster shocks are a possible option. some HD guys remove theirs to install lower shocks, then sell their new or almost new shocks on eebbaayy. Several years ago, I bought a nice set for about $45T. I ended up re-selling them. But I did do a test fit, and they fit fine but lightly rubbed against the chain guard.

If I'm shaft driven then the Harley shocks should clear the rear just fine then right? I'll see what my spring lengths are and go from there. Thanks for all the help

In your case the shocks need to clear the final drive assy. I don't know if that will be an issue with Sportster shocks.

The photo in the parts fishe suggests the shocks are fairly standard eye to eye type, other than the fact that they are air shocks. You might want to look at how the eye attaches to the shock body to see if there is any offset added to increase clearance on the bike. It's pretty common for there to be at least some offset on the bottom attachment point. The other question is regarding whether or not you have the stock exhaust? If so that means you should stay as close to the original shock length as possible; longer shocks may push the swingarm down into the exhaust. I learned this when fitting aftermarket shocks to my 750E. And not to go against Martin but Harley's are heavy bikes so the damping and spring rate is going to be much stiffer than a KZ. That may or may not be ideal for your bike so take this with a grain of salt. Just something to be aware of.

That's correct about the HD shocks. A Sportster weighs about 100# more than a 750-4, so they're probably a better match for a 1000. I didn't do a test ride, so I can't say what the ride would be like & kind of goofed in that regard. They were pretty shocks, though, and made in Japan if my memory is any good. It's been a few years since I had them. Info about the Sportys was is in the Archives, which is where I got the idea.
