Center Stand hitting chain

I’m back with more problems!! My kz550 C3 again. Just ordered a center stand, came off same make and model. Just put it on the bike, but when it’s up it’s rubbing on the chain. Pictures show what I mean. Any advice?

It didn't look as if there is a stop for the center stand. I went through the same thing on my 78 LTD because the bike didn't come with a center stand -- hence, no stop. But I can't be stopped either so I made a nice stop out of a chrome open end wrench but I don't suggest you do this because the foot portion looks low as it is. I will remove the stand on my bike after I'm done working on it. I'll put it back on as need be for working on it. Center stands are handy but that's the way it goes. Are you absolutely sure your bike came with one from the factory? Stake your life on it sure?

What's up with that exhaust pipe. I've got a feeling you'll be back with more problems soon

The stock exhaust system would have a stop on the bottom of the left side muffler or muffler bracket. Since your bike's stock exhaust is gone so is that stop. A couple folks on this site have come up with very good solutions to the same problem and they posted photos of their fixes (see link below). Maybe they will chime in on this posting. Ed

Togoster: I’m 150% positive. Has the brackets for it and everything, but the stopper is what I’m missing. Ive been looking for a full exhaust, the PO Put that crap exhaust on it before I bought it. It’s been irritating me ever since, but hey I bought it with the bike so I can’t say too much.

650ed: I’ll be looking at those links for sure. Chances are I’ll keep it off until I get a new exhaust, but at least I know I didn’t mess something up!!

Thank you guys for the help!!

My frame has the brackets too but I'm glad to hear that you are sure. That foot portion still looks low to me though and that's with it hitting the chain-- it'll be substantially lower I would think. This could just be the angle of the pic. Ed knows his stuff, I tend to over think things.

Keep us posted and let us know what happens.

Duh, stupid me, had to log in just to point that out before anyone else does.

It looks low because it's on the side stand.

Peace, out

If the muffler stay is missing, you could install that & the LH muffler bracket as the bracket also serves as the center stand stop. already mentioned above.

If you are only missing the rubber stopper you can get one from eBay. Ed

i mean it has brackets for the stand on the frame of the car, my bad for not clarifying lol. I'm looking for exhaust systems now so ill probably buy the muffler brackets for the stopper, or wait all together. Winter is coming up pretty soon and ill be doing a bunch of repairs on it while its in the garage, exhaust being one of them. But thank you all for the help! i appreciate it
