Brake drum rebuild questions

Hello all, on my 82 kz550 C i need to do basically a full rebuild for the rear. The brake does not work, and i've narrowed it down to a frozen rear brake cam. I cant find any info in my manual on how to remove the shaft, but i think i can manage. All i need to know is:
A) do i need any special tools?
what lubricant should i use on the brake cam? i've got some brake lube (for automotive brake slider pins and such) and im assuming that'll work just fine.
C) i also need to remove the front sprocket, but i cant apply my rear brake for loosening the nut. Any ideas?

To loosen the nut on the front sprocket, some ideas in pics to block the sprocket, i am so lazy to wrote up a text.

Do you mean the Rear axle? A 550C should be a chain drive model.
To remove the axle, you remove the entire rear wheel assy first, then remove the axle n stuff from the wheel.

Removal. Loosen the axle nut & chain adjusters, remove the chain adj blocks, swing the chain adjusters down & out of the way, kick the wheel forward, lift the drive chain off the rear sprocket, then remove the rear wheel assy. I think that's the correct order or pretty close. I put a pad under the wheel to make rolling it off the swing arm easier. For lubricant I use Permatex Ultra disk brake caliper lube in the little packets.

Martin, i think he want to know how to remove the rear brake pad cam shaft.

Okay.  Thanks.  He still needs to remove the rear wheel, because the cam is inserted from the inside of the brake panel & the rear wheel has to come off to remove the brake panel.

i needed to know about the brake camshaft, but i ended up googling some videos and its easier than i thought! lol. That's the exact lube i have, ill be using that for sure.

Ill definitely be using some of those tips, Scirocco, thank you. i think i have a spare brake pad i can jam between the sprocket and case. ill let y'all know how it went, doing disassembly and cleaning tonight!

Another solution to loosen the sprocket nut.
Put a screw through the chain links and tighten the nuts to lock the chain.

The rear brake is pretty easy, but don't breathe the dust as it has asbestos. If you don't know the age of the brake shoes, replace them >> the old adhesive that binds the linings to the shoes can fail, so a lining can come off and get jammed between the shoe & drum locking the rear wheel. It happened to me, so it does happen. I installed Vesrah brake shoes. VB-412. yours should be the same.

UPDATE
Success! took apart the rear, and found the cam was severely seized. thank god that was the problem... Drove out the cam, took a dremel to the high spots, took an extension and wrapped sandpaper around it to sand down the bore to equal size. Polished it up wth some 2000 wet sand, and dried it. After putting the cam back in, spun it around and it worked like a dream. I lubed her up, put everything back together, and now, finally, my rear brake spins! Now to tackle the sprockets...
