Why do think you need a spacer?
If the front/rear sprocket and the chain are aligned straight everything is ok.
It could be possible you need an extra chain link for your 37 sprocket.

Possible you need this 1,50 mm thick spacer for a 630 to 530 chain/sprocket conversion.

Some 1,50 mm thick washer under the rear sprocket do the same effect.

A '74 Z1 came with non-o-link chain and should not need a spacer. But if you are running 630 o-ring chain you will need the spacer behind the sprocket and you will need the front sprocket with a shoulder on the tranny side.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

That one is my current daily ride, although I just had a total hip replacement and can't drive for 12 weeks...so it's sitting in the garage. The other one is coming to the end of a total resto. Almost ready to go.

We can dig out the Kaw service bulletin re: spacers & post it if you need it.
