what do u think ,,,is this a stress crack or just a molding blemish?

Looks like a casting blemish. I'd say forget it .

thx, that's what I think , the bike has been in storage since '89 with 7200 original miles

It is a crack, not a blemish. You can see it run right through from the thickest part out to the edge.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

It's a casting mark. Very common if not present on all similar castings.

It may be a shrinkage crack from the casting, and not from stress or fatigue.
