I have a change to get a Magura Hymec System for testing on my project bike.
Does anybody know the exact clutch inner/outer, cable/cable bushing length under normal conditions and the clutch pulling travel for the actuator mechanism for a 900/1000?

One of the fellas I raced with used one on his bike. I don't remember him bitching about it.

I heard the main benefit is that it avoids the issue where the regular clutch cable runs between the headers. Supposedly over time this line gets cooked and leads to clutch cable failure. Whether or not that's true, I don't know.

I can't imagine a clutch cable cooking on a KZ. I've owned my 1977 KZ650-C1 since April 1977 and never had any problem with the clutch cable getting too hot. Ed

I agree with 650ed, I never have cooked a clutch cable on any of my KZ's. If you route the cable correctly, and use the right length cable there should not be any problems. Its the people that use way too long of a clutch cable and jam it in there that have all the problems. I have the very same clutch cable on my KZ1000 Superbike since I built it back in 1979. I think I used a KZ400 clutch cable for just the right length I needed. I lube it once a year or so and never had a problem with it!!!

If you use the right length cable properly routed along with the late model clutch release (the one with all the little balls inside of it) you should not have any problems. Even with real heavy duty clutch springs, my clutch lever pull is not that bad!!!! I have to chuckle a bit when I see a hydraulic clutch set up on a KZ. I come from the KISS theory of modification, KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!!!! If the KZ's needed a hydraulic clutch set up, don't you think Mr. Muzzy would have had one!!!!!!
