'82 KZ1100 D1 Handlebar swap to 2" rise, ...need shorter length brake line. was created by RLBuddi
'82 KZ1100 Spectre ......I'd changed the handlebar to that of a 2" rise, however, the front brake line from master cylinder to is now too long and I was told I'd need that from a late 70's KZ900 ...from something that came stock with 2" rise bars. Not sure which bike it'd be though? Anyone off the top of their head know what length line I'm gonna need? If not, how does one determine length needed? Please and thank you!!

I disconnected the brake joint there at the forks, lowered it until the brake line looked right, then measured the overage.
Another way is to use a section of clear tubing as a measuring device.
If you get Goodridge lines or similar, be sure to include the fittings when calculating the length.
Goodridge straight banjos add a little less than 1" to the length.
Also, be sure to consider whether or not you need a different angle for the banjo at the Fr Br mc.

Absolutely take advantage to change over to steel braided hoses. You can get custom made hoses from a hydraulic shop or online. Or Z1E has lengths with different banjo fittings available where you can assemble your own.

You can make your own custom lines from Earl's parts quite easily and cheaply. I've got tutorial info if interested.
