Everyone doing a cafe build on their KZ200 was created by Reymingus
Hey everyone, I’m trying to make my first bike a little more lovable and less of a quartz in the rough (sorry KZ200, you’re no diamond) and I’m trying to get a seat for it. Problem is everything on eBay has a different fit, even the “universal” ones.
Can anybody give me advice on how to jury rig this? I’m afraid if I just bolt on the bolts to where they need to go on this seat it won’t be secure or will puncture through the plastic and into the cushion, not to mention that it might not sit flush because of the lack of proper indentations on the screw areas.
Also, aside from getting their actual seat reupholstered, where did you go to get a replacement seat?

You are going to have to fabricate a mounting system if you want to use that seat which means hacking up the frame to remove the old hinges and welding on new mounts.
When I put a Hotwings Glass café seat on my XS650 I built a base out of wood and mounted the hinges to the wood. I doubt you can do that with the seat you have pictured.
Perhaps a better solution would be to have the original seat re-upholstered. I paid ~$100 for a custom job a year or so ago. came out very nice.

Yeah I think I’m just going to reupholster it with fake croc leather. Fingers crossed it doesn’t look terrible
