I'm trying to determine if I have any options for a lightweight aluminum or steel rear sprocket. Does anyone know what (if any) late model Kawi rear sprockets will fit the '78 650B? Thanks in advance.

Something I learned from steell is to go to the JT Sprockets catalogue, find your bike, then click on the sprocket part number to see what other motorcycles use the same sprockets. Then try eebbaayy or etc. There will be a sprocket ratio chart below the sprockets, so you can see what sort of combos you can go with.
Another option. The 650B came stock with a 530 chain & sprockets, so if the choices are limited, try looking at the 650H CSR to see if there are more choices by switching to a 630 chain & sprockets. A 530 chain is preferable, though.

I have to use a Z650 (630 chain/35 tooth) rear sprocket on a 94-97 ZX9R rear wheel sproket hub on my 1975 Z1B project bike.
So the ZX9R 530 chain rear sprockets(ALU/Steel) should fit on a Z650 sprocket hub

I agree about the JT sprockets pages - But also keep an eye on the diagrams paying attention to the spline and bolt-circle diagrams, 'cause it can spell out a few extra options which you won't find from the numbers alone. ALSO - being that many LITER bikes from our era started out with 630 chains then bumped down to 530 in later years of production, and chains have come so much further along in the ensuing decades, I'm betting you can bump down to an even lighter chain than 530 - Not sure which would be best, but look into more than just the 530 line and ignore the 630 'cause that's a substantial weight gain in addition to the excess overbuilt mass you're already hauling around.....
-Sigh.
