KZ250 Wheels?

So as my first bike build draws to an end, a little 1980 cafe KZ250. I'm trying to find mag wheels that will fit the girl because the wires just don't fit the bill. I know that the belt 250's came with mags along with some of the 440's. I would like to know if either the belt wheels or 440 wheels will work on the bike with little modification as I seem to have gotten myself into a bit of a time crunch. Thank you in advance for any help.

Does your bike have a Fr disk brake or Fr drum brake?

Drums, nothing too fancy over here.

I don't think there was ever a KZ mag wheel w Fr drum brake. I could be wrong, though.
A disk brake is completely different, so the wheel is different.

They did, at least the later ones did, there's a few on Ebay at the moment. The issue I'm finding is that they are off all belt driven bikes and I do not know if its as easy as swapping out the belt drive for the chain sprocket.

My comments were in regards to the Front wheel. I know there are mag wheels w Rr drum brake, but I didn't see the point in mentioning that if there isn't a front wheel you can use. I compared the Front brake & hub on a number of 250, 305, 400 & 440 models and didn't see any mag wheels w Fr drum.

Something you can do is poke around the diagrams at Partzilla. their site is the easiest & fastest to use, so you can zip around comparing one model to another. compare the hub components. the diagram drawings are usually fairly accurate, so in some cases you can see that a part is either similar or completely different without wasting time comparing part numbers or checking the x-ref.

I had a 1980 KZ 250 with mag wheels . Drum brakes front and back and chain drive. Gave it to my kid last year.
He's doing a cafe build on it.

What's your location? Most diagrams are for the USA or North American models. I didn't see a Fr drum mag on anything.

I.m in Canada. My bike looks like that Z250 model. Dont know for sure where the bike came from originally.

There are a couple of 250 Fr mag wheels w drum on eebbaayy, so maybe the type was sold in Canada.

I did not see a 250 Rr mag wheel on eb. The 440 Rr wheel hub components are different, probably bigger. I don't know if a 440 wheel can be used on a 250. the 440 is a bigger bike.

Brake shoe comparison. Using the Vesrah site, the 250 Rr brake shoes are 129mm diameter & 28mm width (VB-409 shoes). the 440s are 159.3 dia. x 30mm W (VB-413).

We have a z250c single over here that comes with mag wheels , both front and rear with drum brakes , also the belt to chain conversion is an easy swap as far as I remember you just change over the belt wheels for the sprockets, back wheel has the same 4 bolt spacing.
