Question on Wheel Bearing replacment

Hello KZ Riders,

I want to replace my front and rear wheel bearings because they are 38 years old and sometimes on the road I think I hear that sound a bearing makes when they are starting to go plus I would feel safer knowing I am riding on new bearings.... so I received my new ones from Z1 Enterprises and looking at the shop manuals here.

Wondering if the '76-'79 A4-D3 Z1R would be the same for my 1979 KZ1000 LTD?

Yup both 601B6206 BALL BEARING,#6206 so....

Procedure to remove old/install new bearings would be the same if I am using the shop manual for the D3 - wouldn't it?

Should be the same just mind the axle spacer and be patient.
To ease the reinstall put the old bearing in the freezer over night first. Oh, if it has the rubber seals carefully pry them off and check to see if the grease is adequate. If not, pack some more in there.

I would say put the new bearings into a freezer.
