Thanks guys for all of your ideas. Picked up a 3 ft. 5/16" steel rod at Ace for $5.98 . Will try it in a couple of days.

I made this tool to adjust the fork leg oil level.
It is a stainless pipe with 8 mm AD and 5 mm ID, a piece of pneumatic hose and a 100 ccm ( 1/10 liter) syringe..
You have to adjust the specification high for the limit stop, fill oil in the fork leg and suck the rest out.
And this is the professional tool with a scale on it you can buy.
