Z1R Tank on a Z1? was created by FloridaZ1A
Hey guys ive searched for this but have come up blank. Will a Z1R tank fit a 73 Z1 frame? If so what years should I be looking for? Ive been milling around the idea of going to an aluminium tank but prefer the look of the Z1R over the original. Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

Please read the description of this "Engine" forum before posting here. Seems that a lot of newer members post topics, that belong elsewhere, in this forum just because it's at the top of the listing. In the past we (the Admin Team) have just moved those threads to the proper forums and left a pointer to where the thread was moved. Unfortunately, the pointer thingy doesn't work very well in this version of the software. The end result is that if a thread is posted in the wrong forum we will move it to where it belongs. Once moved that thread may not be easily found. Hopefully this will not result in "Who Deleted My Post?" complaints. I'll leave this thread here for a time and then work it into the forum rules. Thanks for your cooperation. Bill

the tank will fit, seat is different, side covers might fit, just wont match. I think you could make the ZiR covers work too. just the seat is going to be an issue.

That bike was built by my good buddy Mr. Joe Foster @ Performance cycle in Hammond Indiana. He has owned an Independent cycle shop (same building) since 1974 ( I think) specializing in the kaw 900/1000. I have been picking his attic for years. It used to be a gold mine of parts up there but now all the goodies are gone.
The shop is 45 minutes or so from my house and Joe lives a few minutes from me. I called him last Thursday when I picked up the Go Fast turbo bike and he carried a battery home for me. . Whenever I need new parts ,batteries, gaskets etc he take em home and leaves them in the front seat of his car. I pick the parts up and toss the cash on the seat. He's a good o boy. Builds three or four of those custom bikes a year and they sell quick

And yes he had the seat made to fit
