Since this is my favorite year and model I've done a little checking up on this ..... I've found specs (more than a few places so hopefully they are correct) that say it weights 564 lbs with a half tank.... add just under 14 lbs for the 2.2 extra gal of gas and subtract approx 16 lbs for the Vance and Hines and you come up with 562lbs.

I may be off a little on the header as my 650s stock pipes are right at 25lbs and the V & H header w/ baffle weights 12 and 1/2 lbs. I figured a little more for your 1000s pipes. My 650 weights in a t 496 with a half tank and I've shaved a good 30lbs with 11 more on the way when I buy the lithium battery and get the smooth bores on. I always run with 1 to 2 and a half gal of gas too just to keep it down.

1978 KZ650 b-2
700cc Wiseco kit 10 to 1.
1980 KZ750 cam, ape springs, stock clutch/ Barnett springs.
Vance and Hines Header w/ comp baffle and Ape pods, Dyna S and green coils, copper wires.
29MM smooth bores W/ 17.5 pilots, 0-6s and 117.5 main
16/42 gearing X ring chain and alum rear JT sprocket.

I have dual front disc brakes off an LTD on mine, so probably close to the weight of your 78' LTD. Was that with a full tank of fuel ?

The 240 Kil equals 529lbs dry add.... just under 28 lbs for 4.4 gal gas ... 7lbs for just under a gal of oil and maybe 2 lbs for fork oil and brake fluid and it comes to 565-566....... header again guessing at 16 lbs off could be more due to 9er's weights.... A friends 1978 1100 Yamaha knocked 30 lbs off with a Kerker years ago...... a stock front disc rotor (KZ650) weights 6lbs 0oz on a postal scale I have ....a extra caliber without pads that weighted 3lbs 12oz....... drilling the disc R/C engineering style 108 3/8 holes took 1 and 1/4 lb off mine according to a scale at a grocery store near the machine shop. Need to Add 2-3lbs for the pads and lines too for the extra brakes.

Drilled disc, hd cam chain, welded crank, back cut transmission, street ported head, weisco 1075 pistons, rs 34 mikuni's Its all give and take for a street bike till I plant my fat ass on it!! the only thing lighter is my wallet for sure. it goes on from steering head tapered bearings,to turn signals, what kind of head light. If you park your bike and while you walk away and dont look back to look again ,,You bought the wrong bike Pard.
