The front rotor on my single disc brake is showing some very light scoring. What is the best way to remove them? I thought about laying a piece of very fine wet or dry sand paper on a sheet of glass and try to sand it smooth, but I don't really think that would work too well. What have some of you people done?
Thanks, Jerry

Here's what I would do... you choose what to do.
I'd block sand the high spots on both sides of the rotor a little bit with 220-320 wet dry paper. Do it with soapy water.
Single track wheeled vehicles don't suffer from steering grab so the worse case scenario is that your pucks will wear down a little faster.
The high spots will dig into the new pucks and breaking will be reduced for a very short time. However, and eventually, the two will mate together and the additional surface area, afforded by grooving will only mildly effect the breaking.
Yeah I'ts my opinion but I've done this a number of times.

Take a look at the link below. They will resurface the rotor properly as they specialize in doing motorcycle rotors . Ed

Unlike many cars, these KZ discs are steel, not iron. They are surprisingly hard, which is why brake specialty shops nearly always refuse to work on them. The company in the link above also resurfaces flywheels, which are made of similar alloy. It takes a flywheel surfacing mill rather than the more common disc brake lathe, to do the job.

I checked there web site and decided that would be the best way to go. My rotor isn't in to bad of shape, but I use the front brake every time I stop so I am going to have it done.
