26 Dec 2016 14:16
I am replacing my stock spoke front rim on my 82 kz1000 CSR m2 with a mag rim off an LTD and ive found that my rotors are riveted on to the hubs is there a way to remove the rivets and transfer the rotors to the new mag rim?

The 1982 KZ1000-LTD front rotors were attached using 8 x 30 socket bolts, not rivets. If yours are riveted they may have been modified by someone. Please post a picture. Ed

The rim I'm replacing is a spoke that came stock on the CSR with an LTD rim

It still should not have the rotors attached with rivets. The 1982 KZ1000-CSR used 10 x 30 bolts (see image below). PLEASE post a picture of the "riveted" rotors.
More to the point, the 1982 KZ1000-LTD rotors are not compatible with the 1982 KZ1000-CSR hubs and vice-versa. I don't know of any way within reason to make them work together because the LTD rotor is attached to the hub with 7 bolts and the CSR rotor is attached to the hub with 4 bolts, plus the CSR rotors are offset and the LTD rotors are flat. The csr disks are riveted to center disk carriers. He wants to use the disks without the center carriers by removing the rivets. There are 8 rivet holes but the Ltd wheel uses a 7-bolt disk. It might be feasible to have bolt holes drilled. I laid a 7-bolt disk over a csr disk: one of the rivet holes would have to be enlarged & re-centered, and there appears to be room to drill the other 6 bolt holes, so may-be. I guess a machine shop could do it.
csr rotors
ps: don't toss the center carriers. they might come in handy for someone, as csr disks are probably in short supply. or just get the Ltd disks and keep the csr wheels & disks together as a set for use later or to sell.

Oh, I see; sounds high risk to me. I would just get the rotors that were engineered to be used with the wheels. Ed

Yeah i think I'm just going to have to get the rotors that are right for the rim I don't really want to risk something stupid happening to try and save some money and time thanks for the input
