Hey Guys! I'm looking for a set of rearsets for the KZ1100a2 that are much sportier than stock. I had seen somewhere, a set of R6 rearsets on an A2 shaftie, but I think the set I ordered may be the later generation. The set I ordered is for the '06-'15 model, which has the vertical shift. I'm not looking for Tarozzi style rearsets, I'm putting a very aggressive ride stance on this bike. It looks like perhaps a '04/'05 ZX10R rearset would work? I understand I would have to make the brackets to mount them to the frame properly, I'm mostly concerned with the shift linkage.
Also, does the, agh terminology is failing me, the doo-hickey with the splines that the linkage connects to, would the zx10 one fit?

Or you could ask Les Holt ( a member here ) to just build you a set like he has done for me and other members

I am using a set of Tarozzi Universal rearsets from www.fastfromthepast.com/ They offer the folding type, and fixed. I have been using the fixed set for many years.

I have a set of early CBR600 ( I think). Cheap and cheerful. I made the adapter plates from 10mm aluminium just using regular woodwork tools. That was pretty straightforward. The problem I had was finding the right position. First time round the brake lever hit the exhaust.I raised them up then my knees were touching the corners of the engine. Ilowered and moved them back,cut and rewelded the brake
lever then the side stand was hitting on the gearshift. I got it sorted in the end and they sit well now and dont foul on anything butit was a big headache.
As far as I know the spline on the end of the gearshift is a universal size.

P.S. Just remembered,I have to loosen the righthand rearset to get the battery out!

StreetFighter, your turbo'd monster makes me drool every time, and those rearsets are sexy as all get out, but they're just not the style i'm looking for. Les does some dang good work, and I'll employ his talent when I'm building a bike that fits the style. Those are just to simple for me, same with the Tarozzi rearsets. They look great, but just not what I'm going for with this bike- ultra-modern (picture an 80's cyberpunk anime)
davido, i took a peek at the CBR600(ish?) rearsets. while cheap and filled a few check marks, didn't quite cover the gambit. Also, pics or it didn't happen XD
(edit) davido I just speed-read your build thread, Some great info from your build, as well as the other members chiming in on their rearsets, Thanks!

Ended up ordering this ZX10R rearset as well.

You may have issues with the side-stand fouling the re-positioned gearlever, also if you are changing the wheels this will affect the ideal sidestand length too. Best to be aware of this early on in the build.

I got lucky on my 750 and used a slightly longer stand from a 1000. Re positioning the stand frame mount is another option.

These rearsets came off a 1997 Yamaha FZR1000. I fabbed up some plates and custom control rods then stuck them on my ELR clone, Cost was $100.00.

Well the ZX10R rearsets worked out well. Going to have to move the kickstand forward a bit but that's OK.
