KZ500 triple clamps
07 Sep 2016 21:43
Hey guys,
Iam currently building a brat style racer from a 79 KZ500. I have just noticed a crack in my top triple clamp! Has any body any idea if a front end from another bike will fit the KZ or where I could source a replacement from ???

There wasn't a KZ500 in the USA. The Z500/KZ500 was later bored out & sold in the USA as the KZ550.
I'd guess a 550A triple tree or front end would be the closest match, but that is just a guess.

Thanks mate, I think I'll just look around and go by measurements, it's only the top one that has a crack in it so it's not like the front end will fall off, I might look at getting it welded for now.

While it's off, I would compare the upper triple to eebbaayy photos. According to the cross-refrence at Partzilla, the 550A, 550C Ltd & 550D GPz had the same steering stem head.
