I have a 1976 KZ900 that the original front wheel has a lot of rust and I would like to install a wheel that came off of a 74 Z1. The reason for this is purely cosmetic, the 74 wheel is in much better shape. Will the Z1 wheel mount to the 76 forks with out any mods? They both look about the same in size.

For what it's worth, according to the Zedder software, the 74 Z1 was available with two front wheel options: one that it shared only as an option with other Z1s, and one which was also availavle with other Z1s as well as H1s and H2s, before 76.
The 76 KZ900 shared the front wheel with most KZ bikes of that age.
I don't know if it helps, but I thought I'd pass it along...

Well, after much inspection and fitting, the wheel is mounted and I now have dual front disk brakes. I had a pair of Z1 rotors stashed away and a decent LTD front fender. The only difference is the axel dosent extend pass the outside of the forks, it is about a 16th of an inch recessed on each side. It looks like I just might get her up and running in the next few days.
