1974 Kz400 - New to me, some questions.

Hey guys, I searched on Zedder the info for my newly acquired 74 Kz400. Motor is K4E 024108. On Zedder - www.zedder.com/Info/74%20KZ400.htm , The engine numbers dont range into the 020000's. I searched the other years - 77-79 and no engine serial numbers i can find start with the 02's. Am I missing something?

You won't necessarily find any year whose engine numbers begin with "02" because hat's not how things were arranged. Here's what I have found.

The 1975 KZ400-D2 engines began with # K4E013844. (see 1st image below)
The 1976 KZ400-D3 engines began with # K4E050601. (see 2nd image below)

This indicates (to me) that the 1975 engine numbers range from K4E013844 to K4E050600. Since your engine falls in that range I suspect it is a 1975 engine. Ed
