GSXR Front Axle Diameters? was created by Kray-Z
Hey,

Anyone know what OD the front axles are on a 2008-2013 GSXR600/750/1000 front wheel is?

I measured a 2005 GSXR1000 and it is 25 mm, which is what I need to match up to my ZX12R front forks, but I wanted to use the newer style GSXR front wheel (the twisted looking 3-spoke type). The 2008 and up 600 axle looks smaller then the straight spoke 2007....

From the front wheel diagram at Partzilla for the 2008 GSX-R1000, the wheel bearings are 25mm I.D. I looked at a couple of other models & they are the same. you probably ought to check the bearings of the specific donor bike, just in case they're smaller.

Thanks, I forgot how useful Partzilla is for cross reference! I hope they are correct, as the wheels for this swap are going to set me back $750.00 min...

Before spending that kind of money, I would go to or call the Suzuki dealer.

Do you want to hear crazy? My local Suzuki dealer doesn't have an official service department (at all) - no professional mechanic. They farm any warranty work out to anyone they can find to do it!

They will tell you any BS that comes to their minds just so you will go away and not come back...Unless you are buying a new bike, they don't want you taking up their precious time. Nearly all around here are like that. Good service and parts people are leaving the area or getting out of the trade because of the BS they have to put up with.

Another reason why I don't do business with the local shops....

Thanks!

I'm going to find out for sure tonight, hopefully. jberger635 is the crew mechanic for a 2009 Gixxer 600 proddie race bike. He's changing tires and going though the suspension for the upcoming Brainerd race, so I'm going to drop in and check the spindle sizes on that...

I'll post what I find....

Hey,
I had a buddy measure the front axle diameter on a 2009 GSXR600 and it is 22 or 23 mm (stated by him as near 0.900" - I wasn't the one holding the dial caliper) thru the bearings, certainly it is smaller than the 25 mm diameter of the previous generation of GSXR's. I think the 750 is 23 mm also...

Either way, it won't be a straight swap into my ZX12R forks....damn!
