Newbie Fork swap info
25 Apr 2016 05:17
SO, I'm looking to shorten the forks of my 1982 CSR 750 Twin..
1.) I could buy risers for my bars to gain clearance and lower my triple tree a couple inches..
2.) I could purchase a pair of OEM forks, cut them, and purchase shorter springs..
3.) or I could find a shorter pair of forks from another Kawi model that would require minimal modification.
Any info on either of these options from someone with some experience would be greatly appreciated. Just need an idea of where to start. Cheers!

Another way is to install a shorter top spacer inside each fork. 1" pvc pipe is often mentioned. or cut down the old ones. With shorter spacers & this reportedly isn't necessary, but I would probably install a second rebound spring in each fork, if for no other reason than to take up the space. doing so might give a better rebound, though. ???
Or if the fork springs need replacement or their spring rate isn't that great, you could cut the springs. loudhvx mentioned doing this on his 550 (instead of buying new Progressive springs).
