I installed bungee cord. It is red like my bike. (There is no extra charge to buyer of my bike, bungee cord is included for free)
I couldn't find parts diagram for 80 KZ1000 shaft.
I found diagrams for other models, brake pedal is different.
There is no spring except switch spring.

The parts fishe online suck a big one and don't show an illustration of the parts, but I've never seen a rear brake lever that didn't have a spring. I'd remove the lever and grease the pivot shaft for starters, and find that spring.

In the brake pedal diagram at Partzilla for the 1000-E2, part #92081-1116 is listed as unavailable in parts book. 92081 indicates that the part is a spring. If you search the part number on eebbaayy, there are several listed. Also in case something has been modified, I would also search for the brake pedal shaft to see if what's listed on eebbaayy is the same as yours.

Martin, super!
You can read what is not written!
The spring is only used for 79-80 KZ1000 shaft.
I found place where the spring should be. It is missing, no broken pieces, nothing.
One of ebay listings for the spring says it is the same spring PN 92081-1116. It is available everywhere.
