Speedo Ratio

I've got an 85 GPz 750 and going to go with an aftermarket speedo and tach. I see 1.4; 1.5; and 1.7 ratio speedometers. I don't see anything in the service manual (factory) that tells me what our speedo ratio is on the bike. Anyone know how to tell?

IIRC, the mechanical Kawi speedos are all 2240 rev/mile input speedos. The axle speedo gearbox is setup to output that RPM for a given speed, for the stock tire and wheel size. So as I understand it and have witnessed on a handful of mechanical speedo Kawi's, as long as you match the wheels/tires to speedo drive, you should be able to change speedometer heads and have it read correctly.

I think dimecitycycles has some speedos listed as 2240@60mph or something like that.
The speedometer of my 81 650 has 2240 revs = 1 mile stamped in ink on the back.

I recently put a 2240 = 60 speedo from Niche Cycle on my 81 KZ650, and according to my GPS it's spot on. Probably more accurate than the stocker.
