Kz440 swingarm angle was created by Seanpd
Hello all, I'm a noob on this forum and here's my first question. I'm doing some work on my 82 kz440g with the 18" rear and 19" front wheels on it and I forgot to get the swingarm angle at ride height before I started cutting on the frame. If anyone can help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sean

Well then, it is going to be difficult to provide since that is typically measured from the axle to the rear of the frame. Is it safe to assume that you are headed for hard tail land? If so, just line up the centre rs of the output shaft, swing arm pivot and the rear axle, and weld away.

Texaskz, not a hard tail, more of the cafe look. Before I cut the seat hoop off I put the bike on the center stand and measured from the top of the stock hoop to the floor so I could put the new hoop at the same height. Now before I can make new upper shock mounts I need the swingarm angle so I can put blocks under the frame to establish ride height.

Compress 1 of the rear shocks ,then measure the center to center length.
Make yourself a strut that length then bolt it to the swingarm, then clamp the top to the general location where you want the upper mount.
Then check the clearances for the other parts around the wheel and see if the bike sits level, this will be your worst case scenario for a ride height with suspension bottomed out.
You can always fine tune your mount location up or down to get you in the ball park before making the actual brackets and mounting the shocks. ;)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.
