Ignition switch shocker! was created by Rustyhama
I've had a shocker today. Yesterday I was in a hurry, stuck my key in and turned it, I didn't notice but I has pressed it down and turned the steering lock with the tail light on. I never even knew that function existed! I then could not turn the key back! Uh Oh! I had a look and founf the little 'bolt' that throws out to lock the steering. I pushed on it and turned the key back and luckily it slid back & I was off!

Then stupid ass me... today I sprayed a bit of WD40 on it to se if I could get it working. Slid out fine BUT WON"T GO BACK!!! I have the whole ignition switch out but unlike my 305 it does not come apart so I'm screwed! I think I've found the key code on it Z5633 so I'll try my local locksmith on Monday.

Man I'm really pissed off about this! My key is really badly worn so hopefully a newly cut key will open the mechanism correctly.

Anyone else ever done that and managed to sort it out?

Thanks

Hama

I've done that a few times on my KZ1100A, I got it working by just wiggling the key till it turns.

If a new key cut by code doesn't work well, the ignition tumblers could be worn too much.
When this happens, I cut the key a little higher, to compensate for the wear.
This key may be tight, but in this case it will leave impression marks in the key, and if you file a little at a time, the tightness will go away.
Just be careful not to file too much, as you cannot add metal back.

I got it sorted by my local locksmith. He was easily able to make a key from the code with his digital machine. It didn't work at first because the inside was worn and or damaged. he drilled out the wee pins pulled it apart, straightened out whatever was wrong inside then put it all back together. Now it works perfectly and cost me 43 bucks! Too easy!
Tonight I'll put it all back together and ride it again tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestions etc.
