KZ1000A1 production data?

I'm searching for monthly production by VIN if it even exists, if anyone has a link or know of a database that I could use please advise.

I've got two Kz1000A1's that I would like to have a new VIN label made for and they both have had their frames refinished already with their original VIN labels destroyed prior to my ownership.

I'm trying to determine the approx. build date by month, Don't know if I should list the VIN's here but can PM them if anyone could find the answer I'm looking for.

apparently this info doesn't exist in the detail needed to find what month my bike was actually produced.

Does anyone know what month/year Kaw started production on the next model year ? example, did they start production of 1977A1 in October of 1976?? if I knew what month production began I could take the known output for a given year as according to the VIN range for that model and do a little division to narrow down what could of been the monthly production.

this would be a guesstimate but possibly in the ballpark.

OR

If any 1977 KZ1000 owners who still have their original VIN stickers would care to compare my VIN's to yours if close please let me know what your build month/year was. I know it's asking alot, thank you for your efforts to help me out.

I think at some point it wouldn't be a bad idea to start a VIN database not only for this very reason but to list our classic bikes especially if you have a model that is deemed more rare than others, like the Shelby registry for example.

I don't know what the problem is with giving out vin #'s

But here it is and I think it 'is right in the middle of your ball park

I picked the bike up from the dealership in February 1977.

Bruce thanks so much for posting, It confirmed mostly that both of mine were likely built 10/76 like yours and another contributer above.

If anyone else has an earlier build date please include it here, I'm curious what month Kaw began production began, I'm gonna email Jim at Redline Cycle as they have I believe the first 1977 a1 produced, it was a magazine test bike.
