Can '78 kz400b front wheel fit on a '81 440LTD?

Has anyone tried this or be able to confirm? This wheel hub is for sale on the interwebs and would like to know if it would fit my kz440.

Have you tried Kawasaki.com or partzilla to see if the part numbers are the same? Partzilla also provides information concerning which models used the same part. I suspect they are interchangeable, but don't know.

Sorry for no intro. Didn't think it was relevant. Photos? sure... but I thought this "community" would know a lot more. I guess not a lot here is "experimental". But if you must know the 78 kz400 is a wire wheel and my 81 kz440 is a cast/mag/alum wheel. Thanks for the time.

Welcome to forum. Yes the info on your bike 440 is much needed (as I've found out in the past) There's many variations of the twins you'll find out if you get into the wiring..
It'll fit..if you make it So in short..NO it's not a direct swap into 440 forks..BUT there is a way. You can swap out the upper and lower triple, forks,caliper, fender (everything) from a 400 onto your 440, that's the easiest way, "Or" machine your 440 forks between the axle and your 440 caliper bracket and caliper then make an axle spacer (or 2 if you don't run the speedo drive gear) to get your wheel centered using the 440 axle bolt. Get new fork seals, wipers and oil, upgrade the stem bearings to tapers, rebuild your caliper and master, new bearings and seals in the wheel hub, make sure your spokes are in good(great actually) shape or get it relaced and lastly get a new tire and tube on. Don't forget to line the wheel ring over the nipples with duct tape (or gorilla tape) top it off with a KZ650 front fender or mod yours to get it closer to your tire. Boooyaaah!!....prettiness!
