" What would the advantage be for the direct bolt sprocket to hub?"

Except for the elimination of the very slight (unnoticeable) slack when pulling away from a dead stop I can think of no advantage of eliminating the cush drive.

However - the DISadvantage is that there will be more stress on the engine/transmission components when going from neutral to first gear. That little bit of "clunk" the first time (maybe more than once) when you click the cold tranny/clutch in gear when going riding can put stress on parts, but the cush drive tends to soften the impact somewhat since it has a bit of "give". I haven't read of that clunk damaging a KZ engine / tranny, but on my old BSA that had no cush it ended up literally breaking the engine case into two pieces. That made for a very bad night and a number of long days to follow. :( Ed

Those wheels are rare and collectable. The rear is lighter than a Kawasaki wheel.
There may be additional stress on the transmission parts but any problems may take years and tens of thousands of miles to develop.
If you keep the chain tension adjusted correctly and you keep it lubed you should be fine.

I thought it was worth fixing even if I plan on going to the KZ1000 LTD rear wheel. I have never seen a street bike with a non cush rear wheel before.

An identification mark of a Morris Mag is an M with a circle around the M stamped on either side of the air valve, I have them on my 76 LTD 900, which I believe was the only year & model that came with Morris wheels stock, in stead if the Enkie's or Kawasaki mags

Thanks for clearing that up, Found the marks today both front and back on this bike has the "M" by the valve stem. I think I will keep the front, add another disk and caliper. For the rear I really think I will go with a wheel that has a cush in it.
