Thinking about eliminating speedo gear assembly from the front axle which got me wondering... What actually rotates with the hub? I know the bearing is the transition point between rotating and non-rotating parts, but there's one part I'm not sure of...
-tires, rim, spokes and hub > yes
-axle > no
-bearing outer race > yes
-bearing inner race > no
-the distance collar > probably not if its pressed against inner race
-bearing circlip > yes
-grease seal > yes
-speedo gear drive > yes
-speedo gear holding plate > yes
-speedo grease seal > no
-speedo gear > yes
-speedo gear housing > no
-dust cover/cap > yes
-axle nuts > no
But what about the collar/spacer that fits into the grease seal? Just wondering if that rotates with the seal or if its stationary and the grease seal spins around that. And if so, does the inner part of the grease seal ever wear out due to the friction?
