PART OBSOLETE - Fuel Switch O-ring

"O" RING,FUEL SWITCH
43058-1004

Seems odd that this part went obsolete. It was used as recently as 2012 on some models.
Any suggestions for a replacement? Found a couple on ebay and the shape is round?

IIRC, it's been round in every petcock rebuild kit I've seen too.

EDIT: Nevermind, wrong o-ring. Same principle applies, though I'm sure. They're probably round before installation.

I don't think so. Ebay is a crap shoot. You might have to make a gasket instead.

This is exactly the kind of application that spliced o-ring stock is good for. Static with low heat. O-ring stock of various diameters can be had pretty cheap via ebay or mcmaster. The adhesive used is ordinary superglue.

You can use a std o'ring. It just will fit in the Groove and keep that shape. Been there, done that.
Rebuild kits also carry that o'ring among other rubber parts.

You may want to try a different parts dealer. Everything I look at shows that part is still available, although it does start out round. In fact, that same o-ring is used on some 2015 European models (see image below). Ed

Wow, can't believe it shows in stock. I checked a couple different places and it showed out of stock. Checked another bike, same part number, and it's in stock. I feel stupid. At least it's available so going to call it good.

I used an o-ring from a metric nitrile o-ring kit. ID = 29.4 mm & cross-section = 3.1 mm.
viton o-rings would probably be better, but the the HF kit is what I have.
